The Russian Federal Security Service reported in its preliminary investigations that the terrorists who attacked the mall were planning to flee to Ukraine after carrying out their operation.

The security service’s remarks came in a statement after the director of the Russian Federal Security Service, Alexander Bortnikov, announced the arrest of 11 people, including 4 terrorists.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the terrorists tried to hide in preparation for escaping towards the Ukrainian border, where they had contacts with people on the Ukrainian side to secure their crossing towards the border.

In the confessions of one of the detainees at the moment of his arrest by Russian security, he said: “I participated in the attack for 500,000 rubles, and the process of communication was carried out via the application “Telegram” with unnamed people, but coordination was done with one of the people about a month ago, where the promise was to obtain about one million rubles.”

In his confessions, the detainee pointed out that one of the “preachers” he was communicating with during the coordination of the operation stressed the need to kill people without discrimination.

It is noteworthy that the detainee who appeared in the confession video identified himself as Fereydoun Shams al-Din, born in 1998, and reported that he arrived from Istanbul to Moscow on the fourth of March.

The death toll from the terrorist attack on the Crocs City Hall shopping mall on the outskirts of Moscow on Friday night rose to 143 dead and dozens wounded.
