Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), led productive talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during his visit to South Africa.
The visit came at a time when his forces were still fighting a war against the Sudanese army.
In remarks to Hemedti on the “X” platform, he confirmed that he discussed with the South African president about the developments in Sudan and the ongoing war, where he provided an explanation of the reasons for the outbreak of the conflict and expressed his desire to end the war and achieve peace in the country.
Hemedti has made an official tour of several African countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Djibouti, his first diplomatic trip since the conflict began in April.

On the other hand, the Sudanese government recalled its ambassador to Nairobi in protest against the Kenyan president’s reception of Hemedti.
As part of the regional effort, the East African Development Authority (IGAD) continues to invite conflict leaders to participate in negotiations.
President Ramaphosa expressed South Africa’s support for the imminent dialogue between Hemedti and the Sudanese army chief, calling for an immediate ceasefire and a lasting cessation of hostilities.
The meeting between the two parties in Djibouti has been postponed to the beginning of January for “technical reasons”, as international efforts continue to achieve a lasting truce and end the conflict that has killed thousands and displaced hundreds of thousands.
