Correspondents reported the closure of the Abu Kammash coastal road linking Libya to the Ras Jedir border crossing with Tunisia, which led to travelers being directed to return without receiving official explanations about the reasons for this closure.
Eyewitnesses indicated that this closure resulted from security tension between members of the law enforcement force tasked with securing the crossing and individuals from the Libyan city of Zouara. Although the border crossing itself was not officially closed, the road leading to it is currently closed.
The restrictions imposed on traffic on the coastal road have greatly affected the movement of the crossing, which is considered the main crossing between Libya and Tunisia in the western region.
It is worth noting that this crossing is mainly used for transporting cargo trucks and for travel between the two countries, as Libyans go to Tunisia to receive medical treatment.
