Monday, December 25, witnessed violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces amid heavy artillery shelling and explosions in Khartoum. While Gezira State witnessed acts of looting and robbery.
The bloody battles that broke out in mid-April between the Sudanese army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo pushed nearly 500,000 people to flee from Khartoum to Gezira State, which remained far from the conflict.
But more than ten days ago, the Rapid Support Forces, that control most parts of the Sudanese capital advanced on the highway linking Khartoum to the city of Wad Madani, and took control of one village after another.
