The Chinese President, Xi Jinping, and the President of Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Amaru Sissoko Embalo, announced that the relationship between the two countries had been raised to a “strategic partnership.”
This came during an official visit by President Embalo to Beijing, where the two presidents supervised the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation agreements between the two countries, according to what Agence “France-Presse” reported.
During his meeting with President Embalo, Xi Jinping stressed the distinguished history of friendship between the two countries.
He expressed China’s readiness to maintain friendly and close exchanges with Guinea Bissau, noting China’s readiness to continue providing support for local construction projects in the country.
Chinese media quoted President Xi as emphasizing that “China and African countries sincerely support and help each other,” and expressed Beijing’s readiness to work with Guinea Bissau and other African countries to build a high-level common future.
For his part, the President of Guinea-Bissau praised the achievements made by China in the field of development, describing the relationship with Beijing as a “top priority” and “the most important partner for diplomacy.
He expressed his aspiration to “learn from China’s development philosophy and experience,” stressing his country’s desire to work closely with China on multilateral issues.
