Zamalek CAF Confederation Cup coronation ceremony was delayed about 45 minutes due to a stampede at the gate of the main cabin.
The stampede disrupted the descent of senior figures, including Egypt’s Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy and CAF president Patrice Motsepe.
Mahmoud Shikabala also handed over his medal to his son Adam, who also received the trophy from the CAF president, in an unprecedented scene on football pitches.
The entry of fans and friends of the players to the pitch caused chaos, and Zamalek captain Mahmoud Shikabala, and striker Saif Al-Jaziri, climbed with their sons to the podium, in a clear violation of CAF protocols.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the opening of an investigation to review the events that marred the final, including possible disciplinary action against Zamalek and its members.
Last Sunday, Egypt’s Zamalek won the CAF Confederation Cup title after defeating Morocco’s Nahda Berkane 1-0 in a match in Cairo.
