Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has backed Jurgen Klopp’s decision not to include Mohamed Salah in the starting line-up during Fulham’s last 3-1 win.
Carragher pointed to the decline in the level of the Egyptian player recently, considering the decision as a successful step, indicating that the team needs new blood, and hinted that Klopp may have intended to exploit Salah as a trump card from the bench.
Carragher called for countering the fact that Salah’s performance has not been convincing in the recent period, although he has not been exhausted, as he has not played in international matches for Egypt, and perhaps “it is better for him to be a substitute in the future.”
Salah used to be at the forefront of the scene and found himself out of the spotlight this time, as he remained on the bench at Craven Cottage after a wave of criticism for his poor performance.
Salah has made 39 appearances this season, scoring 24 goals and assisting 13, and has only managed to score two goals in his last six games, reflecting his dip in technical form.
Carragher is the second most capped player for Liverpool with 737 appearances.
