A match between Estudiantes and Boca Juniors in the round of 11 of the Argentine League Cup was interrupted due to the collapse of Chilean player Javier Altamirano on the pitch, after suffering a seizure.
Sunday’s clash saw the Chilean player, the star of Estudiantes, in the 27th minute, after suffering a seizure, as the match was canceled by referee Fernando Echinek.
Immediately after the incident, medical staff provided first aid to the 24-year-old player, who was rushed to hospital in La Plata by ambulance.
The head of the medical staff of the Estudiantes team, Hugo Montegro, confirmed that the player’s condition has been recovered and that he is fine, noting that medical reports indicate that he is in a “stable condition” after suffering an epileptic seizure.
