President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate senior diplomat Jennifer Gavito to be the new US ambassador to Libya, the White House said in a release.
Gavito is a career member of the senior Foreign Service with a class of Minister-Counselor and most recently served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq, Iran, Press and Public Diplomacy, the release said on Monday.
Gavito also served in the US embassy in London and as Consul General in Munich, Germany, the release added.
As a specialist on the Middle East, Gavito served previously in the US missions in the United Arab Emirates, Syria, Lebanon and Israel, according to the release.
