Barcelona president Joan Laporta has expressed the possibility of requesting a replay of the Clasico, which the Blaugrana lost 3-2 to arch-rivals Real Madrid.
These protests come in the wake of a controversial shot in the twenty-eighth minute of the match, where a goal by player Al-Amin Jamal was canceled after resorting to video technology.
Laporta confirmed that the Catalan club will request all videos and audio recordings related to the incident from the Spanish Football Federation, in a move that reflects the club’s seriousness in pursuing the case.
The match saw a pause that lasted for several minutes as the video referee sought to verify that the ball crossed the goal line, but to no avail, as he was unable to find a clear viewing angle to prove the validity of the goal, which led to the continued decision not to count it.
Laporta said that if there is evidence of an error in the review, “we will not hesitate to take all possible legal measures to rectify the situation.”
If the goal is confirmed, the club will seek to “move forward with all necessary steps”, including “the possibility of requesting a rematch”, as has happened in similar cases in Europe as a result of video technology problems.
