British Maritime Trade Organization announced that US-led coalition to protect Red Sea thwarted an attack a merchant ship northwest of the port of Hudaydah in Yemen
British Maritime Trade Organization: 3 small boats tried to attack a merchant ship, in the area located 60 nautical miles northwest of the port of Hudaydah in Yemen (under the control of the Houthis).
Exchanges of fire were recorded between the crew on the ship and the gunmen on the boats. The ships of the multinational force arrived on the scene. The 3 small boats left. There are no casualties.
The Yemen-based Houthi “Ansar Allah” Movement claimed credit for a missile attack on two Liberia-flagged container ships: the MSC Alanya and MSC Palatium III.
News reports prior to the Houthi statement claimed MSC Palatium III was struck by a missile, but also that MSC Alanya was approached by a small boat of Houthi members who told it to change course.
