Unknown assailants attacked a group of Egyptian and Arab students at their place of residence in the Kyrgyz Republic, resulting in deaths and injuries, and security forces surrounded the scene of the incident.
Kyrgyz authorities confirmed that Egyptian and foreign students were injured in the attack at their residence.
The Egyptian Embassy in Moscow received a report about the crisis suffered by Egyptian and Arab students in the capital, Bishkek, where the embassy confirmed that it is following the case closely.
The Egyptian community in Kyrgyzstan issued a set of important instructions to Egyptian students in Bishkek.
The community called on students not to leave the dormitory for any reason, and to avoid escalation when there is friction with Kyrgyz youth, in addition to the need to close the curtains permanently and ventilate with small openings.
Some 29 people, all foreigners, were injured during overnight’s protests, and the Kyrgyz health ministry said all the injured were in stable condition and had been examined by doctors.
A coordinator of the Egyptian community in Kyrgyzstan appealed to the Egyptian authorities to intervene to solve the problem and prevent it from escalating, noting that the situation in Kyrgyzstan has become dangerous and needs urgent intervention.
