The management of Atletico Madrid entered into serious negotiations with Moroccan defender Naif Akrad, a West Ham United player, to strengthen the team’s ranks before the start of the new season.
This move comes after the “Rojiblancos” finished last season in fourth place in the Spanish League with 76 points, and they are now seeking to strengthen their defense line with a strong deal.
The British newspaper “The Sun” reported that Atletico Madrid made a financial offer to the Moroccan defender, amounting to 20 million pounds sterling, with the aim of including him during the summer transfer period.
Akrad, 28 years old, is one of the important defensive elements in the West Ham team and has attracted the interest of many clubs thanks to his distinguished performance.
Despite the serious offer from Atletico Madrid, reports indicate that the Spanish club’s task in contracting Akrad is not easy, given that the player is receiving other attractive offers, including from clubs in the Saudi League.
