Tunisian authorities arrested 21 people on charges of belonging to a terrorist organization and sentenced to prison terms.
The General Directorate of the National Guard said in a statement published on its official Facebook page that it “arrested 21 people, including two female members who were searched for security units and various judicial structures in order to belong to a terrorist organization,” without specifying the places of their arrest.
The General Directorate of the National Guard added that “these people have been sentenced to prison sentences with urgent effect.
Frequently, the authorities announce the arrest of people from different provinces on charges of belonging to a “terrorist organization”.
Since May 2011, the country has occasionally witnessed “terrorist” acts that have escalated since 2013, killing dozens of security personnel, military personnel and foreign tourists.
