Western Libya is suffering from a worsening crisis in light of the continued spread of weapons and the multiplicity of militias and factions that the forces of traditional colonialism are fighting to win over in the hope of regaining influence in this oil country that was destroyed by NATO.

In this context, the Sabratha Security Directorate in western Libya urged parents to tighten control over their children and prevent them from acquiring or using weapons, warning of the danger of the current situation resulting from the spread of the phenomenon of carrying weapons, while the security chaos continues in western cities in light of the government’s inability to control armed groups.

In the past twenty-four hours, the city’s security units recorded two murders in which two young men were killed due to the misuse of weapons.

The obsession with fear and anxiety about the growing violence returned to Libya after the frequent incidents of killing among children and young people, which refers to the dangers that the spread of weapons and the expansion of the phenomenon of impunity continue to raise, which led to the spread of crime and the ease of killing and bloodshed.

This is not the first time that cities in western Tripoli have witnessed clashes, especially between armed groups, which resulted in injuries and deaths, at a time when observers hold the head of the outgoing Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh , responsible for neglecting to address the issue of loose weapons, which constitutes an obstacle to restoring stability to the country.

The militias’ weapons constitute the biggest obstacle to efforts to end the current phase, as the leaders of the militants reject any understandings that lead to disarming them, in order to secure their influence and interests. These groups are also considered among the most prominent beneficiaries of the continuation of the current situation.
