Several main streets in the Libyan city of Zawiya were closed amid heavy exchanges of fire, as the clashes that broke out the day before yesterday continued.
Local sources reported on Saturday that the coastal road from the traffic light, Omar Al-Mukhtar, to the traffic light, Al-Daman, has been closed with dirt berms since yesterday, Friday.
The clashes began after the kidnapping of several members of the Support Force, accused of involvement in the contraband trade. The confrontations worsened as a result of pressure from relatives of the kidnapped people demanding their release, in light of the complete absence of the security services affiliated with the Ministry of Interior of the National Unity Government.
The sources indicated that military movements continued on most roads, with escalating tensions and mobilizations in the city.
The Abu Bousra area witnessed military mobilizations after the situation in the city deteriorated, while the opposing party was still mobilizing its vehicles and personnel amid severe tension.
Local sources reported that the “Semafro – Al-Qardabiya” road, “Semafro – Al-Daman” and “Semafro – Omar Al-Mukhtar” roads are closed, and according to the same sources, there is intervention from some notables to stop the clashes, with the possibility of the 103rd “Al-Salaa” Battalion, led by Othman Al-Lahab, being stationed as a mediator between the two parties. .
