Italian politician Daniele Rufinetti warned of the danger of Libya sliding into violence with the worsening internal division and the absence of a United Nations envoy.
Rufinetti stressed the need to hold a meeting for a delegation from the House of Representatives and the State House in Morocco in the coming days, to discuss the unification of institutions and the election law, the path of reunification and preparation for the elections.
Rufiniti called for launching another Skhirat conference, stressing that the solution must be in the hands of Libyan political actors.
He pointed out that the participation of Italy and the United States is necessary to ensure the new balancing act, as Italy can act as a guarantor for Europe, while the United States can be a guarantor for a series of regional players.
Rufiniti explained that concluding a second Skhirat agreement with the participation of the United Nations and the African Union in the dialogue could be an essential step towards stability in Libya.
He pointed out that Libya’s stability is extremely important for the security of the Mediterranean, stressing that Libyans do not welcome external interference that may lead to internal destabilization.
Rufinetti warned that the current political impasse is affecting Libyan prosperity and Libyan citizens, who feel that their desire to achieve balance and stability has begun to fade.
