The authority advised vessels to navigate the area with caution and report any suspicious activity to the department.
Danish shipping company Maersk said on Monday it was preparing to resume operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, citing the deployment of a U.S.-led military force aimed at ensuring the safety of trade in the region.
