Egypt has begun new government steps to localize the electronic chip and semiconductor industry, through cooperation with major international specialized companies and expanding training programs for specialized technical personnel.

The Egyptian government agreed to begin procedures to select an international consultant specialized in the field of electronic chips and semiconductors to develop a national road map aimed at localizing these industries in Egypt.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, confirmed this during a meeting held on Wednesday, in the presence of a number of ministers and officials, to discuss the plan to localize the electronic chip and semiconductor industries, as he indicated that this file receives great attention from the government and the political leadership, stressing the maximization of added value. Because of the mineral wealth that Egypt possesses, it is of interest.

He said that the government is interested in industries that depend on Egypt’s natural and human resources, such as the fields of manufacturing electronic chips and semiconductors, in an effort to support the Egyptian economy and enhance opportunities for global competition in this field.

He noted that integrated studies are currently being prepared that include maximizing the use of Egypt’s capabilities of white and black sand raw materials, and enhancing manufacturing capabilities in this field, in an effort to localize the industries for electronic chips and semiconductors, in view of the increasing demand these industries are witnessing during this period, and in the future. .

Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, stated that during the meeting, a report was reviewed that included a summary of the work carried out by the Technical Secretariat of the Special Committee for the Localization of the Electronic Chip Industry during the last period, within the framework of the state’s efforts to maximize the added value of Egyptian mineral resources, and work on Localizing the manufacture of electronic chips and solar cells in Egypt.
