An Egyptian economic delegation held several meetings in the cities of Misrata, Tripoli, and Benghazi last week to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

The delegation, consisting of members of the Alexandria Businessmen Association and representatives of the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce, met with representatives from the General Federation of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture to exchange visions and ideas on strengthening economic ties.

The Egyptian delegation, which included a number of businessmen and company leaders, discussed with their Libyan counterparts a set of files to open new horizons for investment and trade cooperation, and ways to facilitate cooperation and encourage joint investments in various commercial fields.

The visit also included a meeting with the Chairman of the Investment Authority in Benghazi, where a detailed explanation was given about investment facilities in Libya, and incentives provided to investors under the Libyan Investment Law, including direct investment or through a consortium with a Libyan company.

The delegation conducted field visits to a number of Libyan holding companies to explore potential partnership opportunities, and it was agreed in principle to enhance cooperation and facilitate procedures to support the development of the two countries.

It is noteworthy that the value of trade exchange between Egypt and Libya rose to $ 1.7 billion during the 11 months of 2023 compared to $ 1.2 billion during the same period of 2022, an increase of 42%, according to data from the Egyptian Central Bureau of Statistics.
