The Algerian Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics announced in a statement that an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred in the province of Mascara in western Algeria.

The statement stressed that the tremor did not cause any casualties or material damage.

It is noteworthy that Algeria witnesses from time-to-time earthquakes and earthquakes, and the Algerian authorities remain in a constant state of alert to face these natural phenomena, especially after the devastating earthquake that struck the state of Boumerdes in 2003, with a magnitude of 6.8, and resulted in the death of 2277 people, in addition to huge material losses in the region.
