The “Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton” surveillance plane, belonging to the US Navy, carried out a reconnaissance mission in the central Mediterranean Sea, flying over the waters off the Libyan coast.

The plane took off from Sigonella Air Base in Italy, and the flight path showed it crossing the coastal region of Libya and the area between Malta and Sicily.

According to the Itamiradar website, which specializes in monitoring flights, the plane’s presence in these areas is a response to the growing geopolitical tensions and strategic concerns in the region.

The Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton has high capabilities that allow it to track maritime traffic, prevent smuggling activities and collect vital information, in addition to providing large-scale reconnaissance data and carrying out search and rescue missions.

The aircraft can monitor areas of up to 7 million square kilometers of surface within one day, enhancing its role as a vital tool for enhancing regional security and combating security threats in the Mediterranean and North Africa.
