An Algerian groom stirred controversy and admiration by giving his bride a gift at their wedding, choosing a celestial star for her that was officially registered in her name.
A video circulated on social media shows the groom announcing his gift to the audience in one of the Algerian celebration halls, explaining that he spent time looking for a suitable gift and settled on the idea of “buying a star”.
The gift was recorded in the name of his wife, “Iman bin Yakhlef”, with some calling the idea romantic while others considered it an unnecessary exaggeration and ridiculed it.

Some commentators on social media showed their support for this type of symbolic gift for its emotional value, while others expressed surprise at the idea, wondering about the feasibility of having a star in the sky.
The phenomenon of buying stars in the sky and registering them in the name of people as gifts has spread and is carried out through unofficial platforms that offer symbolic certificates of ownership that do not carry any actual legal recognition.
It is noteworthy that many world celebrities bought stars in the sky as a symbolic gift, including British Crown Prince Charles, the late Princess Diana, famous actor Tom Cruise, French player Zinedine Zidane, and famous broadcaster Oprah Winfrey.
