The Algerian company Sonatrach announced today, Monday, the signing of an agreement with the Slovenian company “Geopline” at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, to increase the quantities of natural gas supplied to Slovenia.
Sonatrach said in a statement: “The ceremony took place under the supervision of Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, and Mr. Robert Golub, Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia.
The statement indicated that “this agreement, which was negotiated within the framework of a contract for the purchase and sale of natural gas linking the two companies, is related to increasing the quantities of natural gas that are transported to Slovenia via the gas pipeline linking Algeria to Italy.” Thus, this agreement constitutes an additional step towards strengthening ties in the energy sector between Algeria and Slovenia.”
The statement stated that, “Under this agreement, Sonatrach strengthens its position in the Slovenian market, at the same time as it responds to the growing demand for natural gas in the European market.”
The Algerian company stressed that “this cooperation not only enhances Algeria’s presence on the international arena in the field of energy, but also attests to its commitment to expanding the issues of bilateral economic cooperation to a more advanced level.”
The statement did not reveal the size of the quantities that had been agreed to increase or the time when this agreement came into effect.
