An economic report published by the American magazine “The Diplomat” confirmed the decrease in the volume of financial borrowing of African countries, including Libya, from China’s money.
Many of these countries have not borrowed from China for a long time, with Algeria, Africa’s fourth-largest economy, last receiving a Chinese loan in 2004.
According to the report, Botswana and Tunisia have not received a loan from China since 2010, while Niger, Tanzania, Seychelles, and Togo have not lent after 2017, stressing that Libya, Central African Republic, Guinea-Bissau, Somalia, Eswatini, Sao Tome and Principe have not taken loans for 23 years.
