The Algerian presidency announced in a statement issued on Thursday that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune decided to hold early presidential elections on the seventh of next September.

The statement said that the electoral body will be called on the eighth of June 2024.

The decision was taken after a presidential meeting that included the speaker of the National Assembly, the speaker of the People’s National Assembly, the president of the Constitutional Court, the head of government, the army chief of staff, the interior minister, and the head of the Independent National Electoral Authority, the statement said.
