Algerian influencer Maeva Ghennam sparked a huge controversy on social media platforms after revealing in video clips that she was denied an entry visa to Algeria, due to her visit to Israel.
Maeva, who is followed by millions on “TikTok” and “Instagram”, expressed her deep sadness over this decision, describing it as “the mistake of her life.”
Maeva explained in her videos that she had submitted four visa applications, but all of them were rejected, which prompted her to send a touching message while crying, asking to be allowed to return to her country.

She indicated that she did not expect that her visit to Israel would cause her this problem, stressing that a friend of hers encouraged her to make this visit.
Social media users interacted with the case extensively, as some saw that the decision of the Algerian authorities was expected given the severed relations between Algeria and Israel, while others considered preventing Maeva from entering her home country a harsh and unfair decision.
It is worth noting that Algeria does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, and any visit by any Algerian citizen to Israel could raise a lot of controversy and lead to legal and political consequences.
Although Maeva did not expect this position, the case highlights the political and diplomatic tensions related to visits by Algerian citizens to Israel.
