Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf said that the peace and reconciliation agreement signed in Algeria remains the best framework to ensure Mali’s unity and territorial integrity.

The political scene in Mali remains complicated as a result of increasing foreign interference in the Sahel, Etaf said.

Minister Etaf made the remarks during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers, where he explained that Mali has taken an additional step in organizing national reconciliation within the Mali-Malian framework but stressed that the Algiers Agreement remains the ideal framework to ensure Mali’s unity and integrity.

With regard to Algerian mediation in Niger, Etaf pointed out that his country offers a compromise, stressing Algeria’s readiness to cooperate with the countries of the Sahel region to face common challenges, noting that security and stability in the Sahel are an essential part of Algeria’s security and stability.

In a related context, the Algerian Foreign Minister stressed his country’s commitment to work with brotherly countries and neighbors in the region to confront foreign interventions and security challenges, pointing out that the situation in the region requires regional and international cooperation to find comprehensive and sustainable solutions.
