The Algerian General Directorate of National Security revealed the seizure of 169 kilograms of cocaine for anti-drug trafficking operations during 2023.

The Directorate also stated that its officers seized 64 kg during the first four months of 2024, bringing the total number of seizures to 233 kg.

The Directorate also explained that it seized more than 7 tons of Indian cannabis during the year 2023, and 1 ton and 869 kg during the first 4 months of 2024, bringing the total seizures to 8 tons and 869 kg. It was also able to seize 595 grams of heroin and more than 7 million hallucinogenic tablets during the same period.

The General Directorate of National Security confirmed that combating drugs is one of its top priorities, and that it is working to implement the national strategy to combat this scourge, by strengthening its capabilities in this field at the operational and preventive levels.

The General Directorate of National Security warned citizens of the dangers of drugs to the individual and society, and called for cooperation with security authorities to report any suspicions related to drug trade or drug abuse.
