The National Gendarmerie Research Unit in Ain Defla, northern Algeria, was able to recover valuable cultural property, consisting of two silver coins dating back to the Almohad dynasty.
The Ministry of Culture said in a statement that the precise security operation resulted in the seizure and recovery of 182 coins of great historical value that highlight an important part of Algeria’s history in the Middle Islamic era.
The statement explained that the recovery of these historical pieces reflects the commitment of the culture and arts sector to close cooperation with the security services to protect the national heritage and combat tampering with cultural property.
The ministry noted its continued efforts to provide specialized training for members of the security services to ensure the protection of the national cultural heritage.
