Algerian Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production Ali Aoun announced plans to launch a project to rehabilitate the manufacturing unit of active ingredients used in the production of antibiotics located within the “Antibiotical” complex of the Saidal complex in the Oued Harbil region west of Medea.
The project concerns the rehabilitation of a facility that produced active ingredients until 2008, which has since been closed for unknown reasons.
The announcement came during the visit of the Minister of Industry to the complex as part of his efforts to inspect the situation in the state of Medea.
The minister stressed the importance of this project, saying: “Our goal is to resume the production of active ingredients to meet the needs of the local market.”
He pointed out that the former employees who worked in this workshop were called in to ensure the success of the restart of production processes.
The minister also announced the launch of a national campaign to rationalize and reduce the use and consumption of antibiotics, which pose a special danger to children, in order to spread awareness about the danger of overconsumption of antibiotics, revealing a special program to take care of cancer patients, in implementation of the decisions of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
