Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf said at the World Economic Forum special meeting in Riyadh on Sunday that a large number of European countries are asking Algeria to supply more gas to them.
Algeria is a major gas supplier with exports of about 55 billion cubic meters per year, and the main exporting countries are Italy, Spain, and Turkey.
Algeria’s gas exports to Europe rose after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and the subsequent European retreat from Russian gas, in parallel with the imposition of sanctions on Moscow, which led to a decrease in gas imports to Europe without achieving any significant effects on Russia.
