Algerian airports are moving towards a new expansion phase, as passenger traffic at Houari Boumediene Airport, the main international airport, is expected to exceed the threshold of ten million passengers during the year 2024.

The airport’s CEO, Mokhtar Saeed Mediouni, explained that this expected growth is due to the intensive promotional efforts and service improvements provided by the national company.

During his participation in the El Moudjahid newspaper forum, Mediouni confirmed that Houari Boumediene Airport has turned into a regional hub linking Asia to Europe, driven by the launch of new lines and improvements in services.

This coincides with the development of the airport’s infrastructure, and the eastern station is close to being launched, adding to the three existing stations, and it is promised that the services provided will rise to meet the needs of local and international passengers alike.

Mediouni also highlighted the intensive preparations to face the expected increase in the number of travelers during the Hajj and summer season, noting the hiring of a number of seasonal youth to enhance the service and provide support to travelers with special needs.

The expansion is not limited to equipment only, but also includes cooperation with educational institutions to integrate modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to increase the efficiency and speed of airport services.

The company plans to launch an application that provides integrated information about flights and services available at the airport, in addition to highlighting Algerian tourist destinations.
