The Assistant Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, Nassim Gaouaoui, called for Israel to be held accountable for the crimes it commits against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Algerian representative, at a UN Security Council meeting regarding the situation in Palestine on Wednesday, denounced what he described as “the inability of the international community to stop the machine of death and destruction in Gaza.”
Gaouaoui said, “The occupation completely destroyed the Rafah crossing, after the International Court of Justice ordered its opening,” stressing that the occupation targeted aid trucks and prevented the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, “UNRWA,” from carrying out its work.
The representative of Algeria explained that war criminals in the Israeli government are using humanitarian aid as a “card to violate the rights of Palestinians.”
He expressed his hope that “the heartbreaking images we are witnessing in the occupied territories will become the final chapter in the suffering of the Palestinians and will pave the way for an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
