The Algerian Olympic Committee announced its categorical rejection of the allegations issued by the International Boxing Federation regarding the exclusion of champion Iman Khalif from the final of the last world championship.
The committee confirmed, via its official Facebook page, that it does not recognize the legitimacy of the International Boxing Federation (IBA), considering it an organization with no connection to the Olympic Games.
The statement explained that Algeria is not part of the membership of this federation, and that the allegations against Khalif do not affect her Olympic career or her sporting future.
The statement addressed the Algerians, indicating that the federation’s statements “are nothing more than empty words”, and that they do not affect Iman Khalif, and stressed the committee’s continued support for the player, indicating that the athlete continues to focus and does not care about the baseless statements.
The International Boxing Federation announced that it will speak today, Monday, about the status of “two ineligible boxers”, namely the Algerian Iman Khalif and the Taiwanese Lin Yuting, despite the International Olympic Committee’s confirmation of Iman Khalif’s eligibility.
It is noteworthy that the International Boxing Association (IBA) issued similar statements regarding Algerian boxer Iman Khalif, after she was excluded from the Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi 2023, as she was excluded due to her failure to meet the eligibility criteria set by the association, although she did not undergo a testosterone test but rather other tests, the details of which were kept confidential.
