European traders reported that the Algerian Professional Grains Office bought between 130 and 150 thousand metric tons of wheat in an international tender that took place on Thursday.
Wheat will be shipped to the ports of Mostaganem and Tennis only, and prices range between $248 and $250 per ton, including cost and shipping.
The shipments are expected to come from the Black Sea region, including Russia, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria, where shipping to only two ports is an indication of the small purchase volume.
The required shipping periods are distributed over several dates from the main supply areas, which are from August 1 to 15, August 16 to 31, September 1 to 15, and September 16 to 30. They also include two periods in October from August 1 to 15, and from September 16 to 31, and if the source is from South America or Australia, shipping will be made one month before that date.
Algeria is an important buyer of wheat from the European Union, especially from France, and these reports reflect dealers’ assessments, and other estimates of prices and quantities may be issued later.
