The Algerian authorities announced the evacuation of 45 Palestinian children and 6 wounded Algerians, in addition to their companions on board two medically equipped Algerian Air Force planes.
According to Algerian media, “this operation comes in implementation of the initiative of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune aimed at sponsoring the treatment of 450 Palestinian children injured as a result of the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip.”
The planes took off from Cairo airport in the Egyptian capital and landed at Boufarik military airport in Algeria.
According to President Tebboune’s initiative, “Palestinian children will be taken care of at the level of military hospitals and army clubs in Algeria, where all possibilities and means have been provided for the success of this humanitarian operation.”
“This operation will be followed by subsequent evacuations of other categories of wounded and injured, which clearly reflects Algeria’s unconditional solidarity with the Palestinian people,” the media reported.
Algeria has already flown a number of planes to transport humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip “in order to alleviate their suffering”, noting that the operation is continuing and will be followed this week by more humanitarian aid.
