Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf said on Tuesday that the case of confiscating the property of the Algerian embassy in Rabat is over, after Morocco took a decision that Algeria considers “appropriate”.
At a press conference in Algiers, Attaf stressed that “the issue was raised by the Moroccans, and we responded, and they took a decision that we consider appropriate, and the topic ended in this chapter.”
Etaf did not specify the nature of the measures taken by Morocco in this regard.
On March 17th, Algeria denounced what it considered “provocations” following reports of a project to confiscate the property of the Algerian embassy in Rabat.
Later, a Moroccan diplomatic source told AFP that Algeria’s accusations were “baseless” and fell within the scope of an “unjustified spirit of escalation”.
Algeria severed diplomatic relations with Rabat in August 2021 in protest of a “series of hostile acts” by its western neighbor.
