The Minister of Interior in charge of the Libyan unity government, Imad Trabelsi, met with the US envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy and the Political and Security Attaché at the embassy.

The media office of the Ministry of Interior said that during the meeting, several topics were discussed, the most important of which is the political and security situation in Libya, in addition to the proposal of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, the role of the Ministry of Interior on the security file, and the extent of the ministry’s readiness in the election file.

During the meeting, Trabelsi stressed full readiness to secure and protect this presidential and parliamentary entitlement and worked on security plans in particular, while highlighting the ministry’s efforts to redevelop and secure the Ras Ajdir land crossing.

Trabelsi also briefed them on the preparations made by the Ministry of Interior in reopening and securing the Debdab crossing and operating it by the security services of the Ministry of Interior.

The Minister of Interior also touched on securing the border cutter extending from Ras Ajdir to Mashhad Saleh, noting that work is underway to secure the border cutter with Algeria.
