US President Joe Biden’s administration is seeking additional support from the Gulf states, with “Al-Monitor” revealing efforts to stop Yemeni attacks on commercial shipping.
In an article published Wednesday, the website reported that Saudi Arabia has prevented the U.S. military from carrying out strikes in Yemen from its military bases, leaving a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier to take charge of the campaign in the Red Sea.
The deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, has previously asserted that the fight against Yemen in the Red Sea is the largest battle fought by the U.S. Navy since World War II.
Cooper said the U.S. Navy has deployed about 7,000 sailors to the Red Sea and fired about 100 surface-to-air missiles to counter Yemeni armed forces’ missiles and drones.
It is noteworthy that the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, confirmed the guarantee of navigation in the Arabian Sea, the Red Sea, and Bab al-Mandab for all ships, except for Israeli ships and those heading to the ports of occupation, until the cessation of aggression on Gaza.
In recent developments, attacks have included US and British ships as a result of US-British aggression on Yemen.
