The head of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said on Saturday that the “battle of dignity” will continue until the rebellion is defeated and its supporters are eliminated once and for all.
As part of his visit to the military units, Burhan addressed officers and soldiers of the Third Infantry Division, declaring that “the armed forces will not leave their weapons until the rebels are eliminated.”
Al-Burhan renewed his call for rapid support by “resorting to the voice of reason and leaving the states of Gezira and Khartoum,” stressing that unless the the Rapid Support Forces stops killing, looting, and stealing, there is no room for dialogue until after the battle is over.
In developments on the military scene, the Sudanese army announced significant progress by recapturing part of the city of Omdurman from the Rapid Support Forces.
The army said the city’s two main bases were linked, in a delightful advance between soldiers and residents.
The the Rapid Support Forces denied the advance, asserting that the army was resorting to propaganda and facing defeat.
Residents of various areas accused the “RSF” of forced displacement, looting of property and rape, while Sudanese forces face international charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Currently, the army and the the Rapid Support Forces deny the accusations.
