The speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, called on Greece to use its relations with the European Union to stop dealing with the national unity government, which he described as “devoid of confidence”.
The call came during Saleh’s meeting with Greek Consul General to Libya Agapios Kalou Lognomis, where the two sides discussed the latest developments in Libya and strengthening Libyan-Greek relations, according to a statement issued by the council.
According to Fathi al-Marimi, media advisor to the presidency of the House of Representatives, “Saleh assured the Greek consul of the need for Greece to use its relationship with the European Union to stop dealing with the national unity government that is devoid of confidence from the House of Representatives.”
Saleh stressed that “co-operation with the distrusted government disrupts efforts to achieve political stability, constitutes an obstacle to the formation of a unified government, and thus hinders the organization and conduct of presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya,” al-Marimi said.
