Esperance of Tunisia beat Al Hilal of Sudan 1-0 in the final round of Group C of the CAF Champions League.
Yassine Meryah scored the only goal of the match in the 23rd minute, giving Esperance victory and a ticket to the quarter-finals at the expense of their Sudanese guest.
With this victory, Esperance raised its score to 11 points in second place in the group, while Al-Hilal’s balance froze at 5 points in third place.

Meanwhile, the match between Petro Atlético of Angola and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia saw the former win 2-0, with Jonathan Toro and Joao Diogo scoring in the 38th and 71st minutes respectively.
Wydad Casablanca have not qualified for the knockout stages since 2016, settling for a 1-0 win over ASEC Mimosas, while Tanzania’s Simba qualified 6-0.

In Group A, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns topped the group after beating Congolese Democratic Republic (DRC) TP Mazembe 1-0, while Egypt’s Pyramids were content with a draw with Mauritania’s Nouadhibou with two goals each.
With these results, Esperance and Tanzania’s Simba qualify for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League, while Wydad, Petro Atletico and Etoile du Sahel bid farewell to the tournament.
