Algeria kept alive their hopes of reaching the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) after a thrilling 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso on Saturday in the second round of Group D.

Baghdad Bounedjah scored the goals of the “Desert Warriors” in the 51st and 90+5 minutes, respectively, while Burkina Faso’s goals were scored by Mohamed Konaté in the third minute of stoppage time of the first half (45+3), and Bertrand Traore in the 71st minute from the penalty spot.

Bounedjah saved his country from a certain loss in the final moments of the match when Algeria was 2-1 down, as he rose to a ball from a corner kick and found the net brilliantly, realizing the draw amid the joys of his teammates and fans of the “Sahara Warriors”.

With this draw, Burkina Faso raised its score to 4 points at the top of Group D, while Algeria raised its score to two points in third place after drawing in the first match with Angola with a goal for each team.
