Tunisia’s censorship observatory revealed that Tunisair was included in Algeria’s “national card for perpetrators of fraud”, prompting the Observatory to request clarification of the reasons for taking this action by the Algerian authorities.
The Observatory of Censorship, known as a civil organization, specialized in fighting corruption in Tunisia, issued a statement in which it confirmed that Tunisair is facing confusion due to the delay in the payment of wages and grants, and pointed out that there is an Algerian official decision to put the company in the national card for violators.
Recently, a leaked video circulated of Tunisair President Khaled Chelli, asking employees to be patient until the company’s revenues are brought in from Algeria and Libya.
On Thursday, the Observatory confirmed that it sent a letter to the director general of Tunisair demanding full transparency regarding the reason for the Algerian decision to include the company in that list, and the measures taken to remove the company from the aforementioned list.
Former MP Ziad al-Hashemi questioned why the company was included in this list, denouncing the Tunisian state’s secrecy. The company has not issued any clarification or comment on this subject.
