Cornell West, an academic and independent US presidential candidate for the upcoming elections, renewed his criticism of US foreign policy in support of Israel, calling it “morally bankrupt.”
West pointed to the bankruptcy of the U.S. policy calling for a relief port while providing billions and billions of dollars to facilitate genocide.
In a video broadcast by Middle East Eye, West attributed the “bankruptcy” to “the inability of this administration to confront the right-wing Jewish elites who themselves make the decision to pursue genocide, and America itself creates conditions for this genocide, so Vice President Kamala Harris and others have to admit it.”
“I have said this on many occasions, their own policy makes them war criminals, and providing humanitarian assistance will not enable them to mitigate the impact of their war crimes,” West said.
West is a philosopher and academic who resigned from Harvard University in 2021 because of what he described as its “acquiescence to prejudice” against the Palestinians, saying at the time that the university was in a state of “spiritual decay and rot.”
