An Egyptian official at the northern Sinai port of al-Arish said a merchant ship from Tanzania from Sudan sank off the Mediterranean coast of al-Arish.

The official added that the Egyptian navy was able to rescue the ship’s crew of 15 sailors and they were transferred to the port of al-Arish, adding that “they are suffering from various injuries and are receiving treatment at the port of al-Arish.”
The source said the Tanzanian embassy in Cairo had been notified of the incident.
The Egyptian media announced the sinking of the ship in question and revealed that the majority of the crew are of Syrian nationality.
