Rennes striker Amine Guerri has confirmed his departure from his country’s camp, Algeria, for personal reasons, after receiving permission from coach Vladimir Petkovic.
Guerri praised the victory achieved by him and his teammates in the Algerian national team last Friday evening, at the expense of Bolivia (3-2) in the quadruple friendly tournament held in Algeria and with the participation of South Africa and Andorra and under the supervision of the International Federation of Football Associations.
Amine Gueriri spoke to the Algerian Football Federation website about a number of points, including his departure from the Greens camp and his return to his residence in France due to family circumstances, which means he will miss the second friendly against South Africa next Tuesday.
Amine Gueriri began his talk about the match against Bolivia, in which the Algerian team turned the result after they were two goals behind to one, saying: “Indeed, despite the delay in the result, the group spirit shown by our team was the reason behind the strong return and victory in the end.”
The match saw Amine Gueriri score his first goal with the Algerian national team, in his fifth international match in the national team’s shirt, adding: “Yes, thank God I was waiting for this moment, and I am very happy to score the goal, especially since it came in a match in which the victory was achieved.”
The former Olympique Lyonnais striker called for confidence in this generation, as well as new coach Vladimir Petkovic, adding: “With new names and a new coaching staff, we are optimistic, and we will work together to achieve future goals and face the challenges ahead.”
On overcoming the psychological problem due to Algeria’s poor participation in the last African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, he pointed out that “this reflects the personality of the team and the great role of the substitutes, this is the strength of the group that enabled us to achieve victory, and we are very happy about that.”
Amine Gueriri addressed a message to the Algerian fans: “The fans were great, and their continuous support played a big role in motivating us and pushing us towards victory and we are grateful for it. I ask that they continue to support us and that they trust the new faces and the new coach, and we will go the right way hopefully”.
On his opinion of coach Vladimir Petkovic, who was Bolivia’s first match for him and his technical staff with the Greens, he added: “The coach has clear ideas, and we started to apply them since the first training sessions, despite the short time, but we worked hard, and this yielded positive results, there is still time in the future to do good preparation.”
Amine Gueriri concluded the conversation by referring to the reason for his departure from the Algerian national team camp, saying: “By the way, I thank the coach for understanding my desire to leave the camp due to family circumstances, I wish victory to my teammates in the next match and Ramadan Mubarak to all Algerians.”
