Naji Jouini, the general supervisor of the refereeing department of the Tunisian Football Federation, blew a surprise of a heavy caliber, announcing that he had seen a confirmed information that there was a serious attempt to bribe a referee with a sum of money.

Jouini said a lawsuit was filed after obtaining documented information about an attempt to bribe a Tunisian league referee. Jouini explained that the referee in question was going to officiate one of the meetings of the fourth week of the “playout” stage of the Tunisian Professional League. He did not disclose the match or the name of the referee in question, adding that he had an audio and video recording documenting the situation. In a related context, Jouini warned the rulers not to take judicial action in the event of any attack, stressing that any judgment that is attacked and refuses judicial action will be subject to cancellation.
