Morocco has set up a seawater desalination plant on the outskirts of the southern city of Agadir, aiming to save water and mitigate the impact of drought in the region.

  1. Engineer Ayoub Ramadi, an official at the seawater desalination plant, pointed out that this project also aims to protect water resources in the region and preserve important agricultural activities in it.

The project is part of the government’s efforts to provide irrigation water to 15,000 hectares of farmland in the region.

Despite the significant financial challenges posed by such projects, the government insists that they are a necessary strategic choice in light of Morocco’s harsh climatic conditions, water scarcity and drought.
